For over half a century, I have been immersed in a world dominated by media messages that range from the trivial to the profoundly damaging. This constant bombardment has fueled my desire to reshape and redefine their impact. By employing images and text from magazines, alongside scalpels, glue, and a touch of digital enhancement, I have carved out a space for rebellious and intuitive creation. The emotional tone of my pieces varies widely.
My creative process is organic and unpredictable, as the source materials often dictate their own transformation, imbuing the work with new and unexpected significance as it evolves. Through my art, I explore and critique pervasive human obsessions with vanity, consumerism, fashion, fame, mortality, sex, gender, wealth, and power. Additionally, I delve into societal norms regarding gender roles, domestic spaces, and the commodification of youth and the body.
Some works exude a dark, brooding atmosphere, others pulse with anger, while some are simply whimsical and playful. Among my collection, you will also find a range of self-portraits. My overarching goal is to provoke the audience to critically examine the societal norms they often take for granted. However, feedback on my work has highlighted its capacity to not only provoke thought but also to enlighten, confuse, and amuse.
